The bike tour from Innsbruck to Rome organized by the Fellowship Cycling to Serve Austria for the benefit of Growin and END POLIO NOW has been successfully completed.
The group (15 cyclists including members of 6 different Rotary Clubs and 1 Innerwheel Club, 6 guides, 3 accompanying vehicles) started on September 12, 2020 at 7:00 a.m. in Innsbruck and after 287 km around 7:00 p.m. at the first lodge near Verona. On the 2nd day 324 km had to be driven, so an early departure was announced. However, it was already pitch black when they arrived at Citta di Castello after several punctures.
The last stage, with 221 km not that long, but “blessed” with many meters of altitude and Roman road traffic, so that they only reached St. Peter’s Basilica when it was dark. Nonetheless, it was a great experience for everyone involved that quickly made the difficulties forget.
